Sonoma State University Coach Gregg Budgell Passed Away After Enduring Parkinson’s Disease For Many Years, Leaving Behind His Wife, Laura, And His Son, Lucas And Blake!

Coach Gregg Budgell, fondly known as “Budge,” passed away at the age of 59 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
As per his friend, the coach developed Parkinson’s disease during his time serving in the U.S. Marine Corps while stationed at Camp Lejeune.
He was remembered as one of the toughest people, enduring constant pain from multiple brain surgeries without ever complaining.
In his final days, Budge knew his time was limited and had hoped to say goodbye before his daughter’s wedding, but sadly, that chance never came.
His passing leaves a deep void for those who were fortunate enough to call him a close friend.

Budge was a dedicated baseball coach at Sonoma State University and a proud Marine who served at both Camp Pendleton and Camp Lejeune.
He studied with the United States Marine Corps and carried the discipline and toughness of his service into every part of his life.
Originally from Danvers, Massachusetts, he later made his home in Rohnert Park, California, where he built a life filled with family, coaching, and community.
Though he often said he didn’t let many people get close, he formed meaningful friendships that endured.
Gregg was married to and was deeply devoted to his children, including his son Lucas and Blake.
Budge’s family stood by him through the challenges of Parkinson’s disease.
His son Lucas showed remarkable maturity, taking charge at a baseball fundraiser at just 16, and later standing by his father as his illness worsened.
Moreover, Lucas also supported his brother, Blake, and held the family together after the loss of their only uncle.
Despite constant pain from surgeries, Gregg never complained, instead sharing his journey with quiet strength.
