Saint Louis, MO Native and Former Webster Groves High School Baseball Standout Tyson Knapp, 20, Passes Away, Leaving Behind His Parents, David and Beth

Tyson Knapp, a Missouri native and former Webster Groves High School student-athlete, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2026, at an untimely age of 20.
While his family hasn’t yet disclosed the cause of his untimely death as they are grieving the loss of their beloved member, many of his loved ones are recalling the memories of late Tyson Knapp and paying tribute to him on social media.
One of his cousins, Wayne DeKinder, took to his Instagram to share several beautiful pictures of Tyson Knapp and recall his memories.
The post reads:
“Thinking back on all the time I spent with you now, I can’t think of a single bad memory. The hours we spent on the farm together doing things we definitely should not of, or the hours we would spend competing with each other. You name it odds are me and Tyson played against each other in it. It’s funny to think that over my 16 years of age I never beat him in a basketball 1v1 once.”
He further added that his elder cousin, Tyson always inspired and guided him to be an amazing athlete.
“If you were to ask me when I was very little who I wanted to be like you can guarantee I would have said my big cousin Tyson. My answer would still be the same today. Whatever Tyson did I wanted to do. This led to me doing a lot of things I couldn’t handle, like when I fell into a big pile of mud trying to keep up with him in a game of kickball. I think I heard that story every time I saw Tyson.”
Similarly, many of Tyson Knapp’s friends and teammates are also expressing their sorrow.
One wrote:
“You’ve made such a positive impact on so many people’s lives, including my own. We love you Tyson🤍.”
Another added, “You were a light man. Nobody could ever bring the fire like you, rest easy Tyson🫶.“
Tyson Knapp touched the lives of many with his remarkable athletic skills, playing baseball for the Boys’ Varsity Baseball team at Webster Groves High School in Missouri, and leading his team to several victories.
Late Tyson Knapp Also Competed With Several Travel Teams
In addition to his high school journey, Tyson Knapp also played baseball for several clubs and teams in Missouri, winning several honorable titles with his remarkable performances, intending to become a professional baseball player.
A right-handed pitcher, Tyson competed with several travel teams, including Missouri Gators 14U-AA (2019-2026) and 15U (2026-2026), as well as Inevitable A’s American 17U.
Standing 5’10”, he threw right-handed with a fastball reaching 77 mph, a curveball of 58-58 mph, and a changeup of 60-63 mph.
Similarly, he participated in multiple Perfect Game events, showcasing standout performances, including pitching 5.2 innings against the 5 Star Performance 2026 National team and recording five strikeouts against Excel Blue Wave.
Beyond baseball, he was also an accomplished basketball player, demonstrating athleticism and dedication on both the court and the field. He played basketball for the Mizzou Club Men’s Basketball team.
Tyson Knapp is survived by his parents, David Knapp and Beth Ott Knapp; aunts, uncles, cousins; grandparents; and the whole family.
