James ‘Jim’ Kruze, a Rochester, New York native and former high school legendary coach and teacher, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2026, leaving his family and loved ones heartbroken.

Webster Schroeder High School took to its official social media to announce the news; however, details about his death have not yet been disclosed.

James Kruze touched the lives of many students and athletes through his decades-long career as a coach and educator.

He joined Webster’s schools in 1969 and dedicated over five decades of his life to guiding students in their athletic and academic journey.

James ‘Jim’ Kruze served as the soccer coach at Webster Schroeder High School, leading his team to several victories.

Similarly, he served as the assistant athletic director of the school for decades.

James’ demise has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.

Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to the beloved, legendary Webster School coach and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

One wrote:

As a health teacher, you had a profound influence on me, demonstrating the power of kindness and understanding. Your presence in the halls was a reassuring constant. Another added:

“Such an amazing person, mentor, and educator. Ever positive. To a genuinely wonderful person who absolutely led by example while many of us were in High School, rest in peace my friend.Sincerest condolences to all who had the privilege of knowing you.”

James ‘Jim’ Kruze is Survived By His Longtime Wife, Patti, Sons, and The Entire Family

James Kruze was not just an amazing coach but also a great husband to his longtime wife, Patti Kruze.

While Patti hasn’t released any statement regarding the demise of her longtime husband, as she is currently grieving the loss, she often shares pictures of James on social media, expressing her love and pride for him.

The couple raised their two sons, Jonathan ‘Jon’ and Dylan Kruze, to be successful in their respective fields.

Very little information is available about their son Dylan, as he prefers to maintain a low profile. Their other son, Jonathan, the United States Air Force as a General Dentist.

Jonathan earned his BS degree from Penn State University and his DDS from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, in 2010.

In addition to his wife and two sons, James Kruze is survived by his daughter-in-law, Theresa; grandchildren; siblings; and the entire family.

His legacy in the New York sports comunity and his kind and helpful nature will always be remembered.
