Cal State Fullerton Sophomore Soccer Player Lauren Turner Passed Away After Bravely Battling For Nearly Six Weeks In The ICU Following a Devastating Accident!

Lauren Turner, a 19-year-old sophomore and standout player on the Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer team, tragically passed away on November 7, 2026, after spending nearly six weeks in intensive care following a devastating accident.

On the evening of September 27, Lauren and her teammate, Ashlyn Gwynn, were riding electric scooters near the California State University, Fullerton campus in Fullerton, California.

While traveling southbound on Association Road near Yorba Linda Boulevard, they were struck by a box truck.

The collision left both athletes with severe injuries; Lauren suffered critical head trauma and .

Despite extensive medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries weeks later.

While Lauren tragically passed away on November 7, Ashlyn is still recovering in the hospital.

Lauren Turner’s Passing Left Her Family And Community Heartbroken!

A rising star in collegiate soccer, , was known for her impact on ’s historic 2026 season.

She appeared in all 20 games during the season, making four starts and playing a total of 881 minutes.

She scored her first career goal against UC Riverside and also tallied one assist.

Over the course of the season, she recorded 11 shots, with four of them on target, showcasing her commitment and growing impact on the field.

Regarding her education, Lauren graduated from Arnold O. Beckman High School in the spring of 2026, where she was a four-year letter winner on the women’s soccer team.

Lauren earned All-Conference second-team honors in both her sophomore and junior years and was named team MVP as a junior.

She served as team captain during her junior and senior years.

Additionally, she was recognized as a scholar athlete throughout all four years of high school.

Outside of school, she played club soccer for Slammers HB Køge in the ECNL, under the guidance of coaches Cheyne Gordon and Monique Segovia.

Lauren planned to pursue a degree in Kinesiology at Cal State Fullerton; however, her tragic passing left this dream unfulfilled.

Her parents, and , and sisters, Nicolette and Victoria, have been deeply affected by her loss.

Cal State Fullerton , remembering her as a vibrant, charismatic student-athlete and loving teammate, saying:

The Cal State Fullerton Athletics Department is heartbroken to announce the passing of women’s soccer student-athlete Lauren Turner, who passed away on Friday, November 7th after a nearly six-week stay in the ICU following a tragic off-campus traffic collision.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her parents, Christopher and Christine, her sisters Nicolette and Victoria, her teammates, coaches, staff members, friends and all who were fortunate to know her.

Further, the university announced that a candlelight vigil in her honor will be held on Wednesday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m. on the field at Titan Stadium, hosted by the Titans women’s soccer team and the Athletics Department.

A GoFundMe campaign, titled “” has also been created by Colleen Nettekoven, the parent of one of Lauren’s teammates.

Initially, it was launched to support her family with medical expenses, travel costs, and related needs during her ICU stay.

After her passing, the campaign continues to support the family through family funeral arrangements, memorial tributes, and celebration of her life.
